The Wild World of Art: Ages 8-10
This series of four two hour classes used found objects to create a large scale installation. Inspired by maps and aerial photography, they projected a satellite map of the greater Wilmington area onto two large platforms. We then charted and sectioned out areas based on green spaces, industrial areas, roads, rivers and high density living. In each of these sections, students collaged found objects such as artificial hair, reflective tape, sand, peat moss, glitter, hand made felt, stones, astroturf among many other elements. Upon completion, battery powered lights were drilled though the back of the platforms to bring attention to areas of interest. The process of making this was documented by video and photography by the students.
