Introduction to the Figure; Emphasis on use of Line and Selective Color

Part I- In class Gestural Drawings, breaking figure down to basic shapes and systems of proportions. Introduction to Blind contour, oil and dry pastel.

Part II-  Model present in class. Short poses concentrating on line, contour and positive and negative relations. Focus on foreshortening, and line weight. Color is introduced, but used reductively.

Part III- Self portrait from life rendered in graphite. Emphasis on psychology, linear attributes and creative use of lighting.
